Privacy Policy.

Short version: there are no accounts, the site sets no cookies, and it collects no personal information about you. It counts visits with a cookie-free tool from Cloudflare, and we only see totals.

Who runs this site

RepoTrending is run by Lê Văn Giang, Vietnam. You can write to us at [email protected].

Effective date: October 23, 2026.

What we collect today

  • You don't need an account to use RepoTrending, and there is no account to create.
  • The site's own code sets no cookies.
  • The pages do not send what you type, click or choose back to us. There are no sign-up, request or report forms on the site yet: the Weekly digest, Advertise and report pages say coming soon.
  • We use no advertising trackers. Every style sheet, font and image on a page comes from this site itself.
  • We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It is the one script on a page that does not come from this site; read more under Visit statistics.
  • Your choice of dark or light theme is saved in your browser's local storage under the name rt-theme. It stays on your device and we never receive it. You can clear it in your browser settings.
  • When you pick a language or a topic on a ranking page, the address in your browser changes so you can bookmark or share that view. Nothing is sent when you change a filter.
  • The badge page builds its copy-and-paste snippets in your browser from the repo name you type. The name is not sent anywhere.
  • A copy button uses your browser's clipboard only when you press it.

What our host sees

Like on any website, a request for a page reaches the company that hosts the site. It receives your IP address, the page you asked for and details your browser sends, such as the browser type, and it may keep standard server logs to keep the service secure and running. The site is hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages). Its privacy policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy. Cloudflare also runs the visit counter described next.

Visit statistics

We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. Cloudflare adds a small script to our pages, loaded from static.cloudflareinsights.com, that reports each page view and how fast the page loaded.

For each page view it sends Cloudflare the address of the page, the address of the page that sent you here (the referrer) and timing numbers such as how long the largest element took to appear. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser: no cookies, local storage, session storage or IndexedDB. Cloudflare states that it discards your IP address at the nearest data center, that it does not store it in its core databases or logs, and that it does not track individual people across the sites of its customers.

We see totals only, such as page views per page and per day. We build no profile of any visitor and we cannot see what one person did on the site.

If your browser or an extension blocks the script, you are simply not counted, and the site works the same.

Public data about repositories

RepoTrending lists public GitHub repositories. For each one we keep the owner's GitHub username, the repository name, its description, main language, license, creation date, topics, fork count and star counts. All of it comes from GitHub's public API.

We skip private, forked and archived repositories. We count stars but we don't collect who gave them.

If you own a repository and want its entry corrected or removed, write to [email protected] and we will look at your request.

Features that are not live yet

These are described on the site but collect nothing yet. We will update this page before any of them is switched on, and none of them can take anything from you today.

  • Weekly digest. When it opens we will ask for your email address so we can send one email a week. Before we ask for any address, this page will say which email service we use, how long addresses are kept, how to unsubscribe and our postal address.
  • Advertiser requests. The request form will ask for a company name, a work email and a message. Before it opens, this page will say where these requests are stored and for how long.
  • Mistake reports. The text you write in the report box will be read by us. Before it opens, this page will say where reports are stored.

Your rights

Because we ourselves hold no personal information about visitors today, there is nothing for us to give you, correct or delete. When that changes, this page will say how to ask.

If you are in the EU, the UK or California and have a question about information we might hold about you, write to [email protected].

Changes to this page

When this page changes we will update the effective date at the top. Read the Terms of Use too.
